“I can play pretty much any song at church. But when I hear my professional friends play, there’s just… something different.”
I knew exactly what he meant.
At a certain point, it’s not about whether you can play the song. It’s the voicings, the movement, the choices, and those little things great players seem to hear that make you think, “Wait… what was that?”

I don’t have a generic curriculum that I put every student through. I want to hear you—what you already do well, where you’re getting stuck, what you hear in other players that you can’t quite get to yet, and what would make the biggest difference in your playing right now.

I’m not interested in impressing you during your lesson. I’m interested in making sure you can do it when I’m not there.
I take musical ideas that sound complicated and turn them into simple, repeatable formulas you can actually use. Take them to another song, another key or another gig until eventually they simply become part of your playing.
